WIP Wednesday
Since I have a few WIPs, I can join in. Yay! First of all, the big WIP, my due date is tomorrow *gasp!*. Of course it's not a hard fast rule so I have a feeling I'll keep cooking on that one a bit longer. As for quilting/sewing projects, they are all baby related. First, there is a finished quilt top--I really need to finish this guy off!
I have the batting and backing out and ready, just need to get that last hooray.
Next, I made an in-carseat baby swaddler thing based on a tutorial from Pinterest. Incidentally, Pinterest may have a lot to do with why my quilt isn't finished. Oops.
It's not very easy to take a picture of and look like anything other than a bunch of fabric. I still need to cut holes to fit it into the carseat, but I am having second thoughts about the carseat that I bought and thinking maybe I want a different one. I can't get it to sit securely in the vehicle.
Last, but not least, I will be making a carseat canopy like this one here. This is in the extreme preliminary stages...as in I haven't actually unfolded the fabric yet.
This is from Joel Dewberry's Heirloom line in the Sapphire colour way. I love this print! The other side will be a grey minky fabric that I got.
Well, that post was excessively long but after this baby comes, who knows when I'll be on next! I am linking up to WIP Wednesday with Lee at Freshly Pieced.

The fabric is a Henry Glass print that I got at a sidewalk sale at my LQS a couple years ago. The inside is just white flannel. I opted to forgo the batting, thought it might get a bit toasty.

For me!
It's just charm size squares cut from the citrine palette of Joel Dewberry's Heirloom. My favourite!

Finished Baby Quilt
Such a flurry of quilting has not been seen in these parts for a while! I couldn't get the lighting to behave so it's a little dingy/dark looking. Oh well!
I did an all over stipple in dark brown thread. This quilt has since been washed and gotten nicely crinkled up so if I take any more pics I will share. Love that Owl backing!!

WIP Wednesday
I posted a bit about this one yesterday, but now I have the top done, sandwiched, and I have started to quilt it. It's a gift for a friend of mine who just had a baby boy. I'm doing an all over, large scale, stipple in dark brown thread. I folded over the bottom so that you could see the adorable backing fabric.
The fabric line is "Life's a Hoot" from Adorn It. I got it from my LQS, and then added in the orange and teal solids. The solids come from Connecting Threads. The pattern for the quilt comes from See Kate Sew. I must not have counted right and ended up being a row short, but it worked out better for me that way. And it'll still be ok :-)

Something in the works
Slow but sure, I'm doing something. I'll likely play with alignment as I've got samesies together. This is to be a gift for a friend who has just given birth.

WIP Wednesday
Today I finally sort of got where I intended to last week. So, I guess it's getting there. I managed to finish piecing together my pillow based on a tutorial by Lee at Freshly Pieced. I don't have a 24" pillow form yet, and I've just gotten off a night shift so I didn't bother quilting it yet (I've actually had to check a few times to make sure it is, in fact, Wednesday). So, I'm really slow.
I used all chevron fabrics. I did made enough to do two pillows, but due to the size and craziness I think that I'll stick with one, and maybe use a couple extra blocks on the back. It was fun, and for the most part I'm pleased how it turned out.
I may try to change it up a bit and do a hidden zipper instead, or even a visible zipper. Just to try something new I guess! Head over to Lee's to see what everyone else has been up to.

Claiming it
Thankfully I cottoned on, through other people's posts, that Google reader is toast. Poo.

Long time no see...
Well, I haven't been around a lot. On my blog that is--I still love keeping up to date with everyone's projects and always check them out. I just haven't seemed to accomplish anything myself. However, today I saw this tutorial by Lee at Freshly Pieced, and I knew I had to do it!
Quick catch up--my hubs and I bought a house after our wedding, which we have gutted and now need to re-gut (so to speak). Also, we're PREGNANT!! So, between that and work I admit I just haven't felt too inspired. I think that once we find out if it's a girl or boy (two weeks) then I'll start making stuff for the baby.
Because of a surplus of wedding gifts, furniture etc., and living in a trailer, this is my sewing room--I know right, ew.
So, I grabbed a FQ bundle of Riley Blake Chevrons that has been languishing and got started. I had wanted to finish, but it took me a while longer, and that mattress tends to get in the way. So, I got partway through.
I decided that instead of saving half of each square as a scrap (so as to avoid colour repetition) I would just double it up and make two matching pillows! I'm sure I'll find something to do with them. Or I can give one away.
Anyways, I plan to finish tomorrow. I hope.
