For me, personally, instagram has kind of killed blogging. I still like to read them, but I find myself doing more in the world of sewing on instagram than the blog. I also find the time to sit down and read as many blogs as I follow, never mind write posts, to be a little much for me.<br />
<br />
So I pared down my list to a few blogs, my favourite to read and a few Canadians I enjoy. Most of the rest have a big presence on instagram so if I want to follow up I can always look into their blog. And it will be a lot easier to manage just a few blogs.<br />
<br />
I will still post from time to time, but with a busy toddler, and [surprise] another baby on the way, I don't imagine getting less busy. I hope you'll stick with me, but I understand if you don't.<br />

Just wanted to share what I've been up to!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made this cute little Christmas Nessie top for Abby.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
...and finished my Schnitzel and Boo mini quilt swap quilt. I tried to get fancy with the FMQ so hopefully the recipient likes it!</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made some maple leaf blocks for a bee mate.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And it has come around to my turn to host the been again, I decided to do granny squares. I really love the yellow and blue one! I'm also a fan in general of any quilts I see made with this block and can't wait to get them all together.</div>

I know it's been a while now, but I couldn't help but share our little Hallowe'en ewok! I just bought a teddy bear costume and then made that little hood thing from some fleece I got. Adam made her that slightly deadly and non-child safe tomahawk. She posed pretty well for me with it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15676531291" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0038 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0038" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3950/15676531291_dedc49e3c7_b.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I feel as if I've done a lot of sewing lately, but I don't really have a lot to show for it. Here are two bee blocks I made for my group.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15878379222" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="November Bee Block by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="November Bee Block" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7556/15878379222_13c9fc777c_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15693266007" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;" title="November Bee Block by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="November Bee Block" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7514/15693266007_80e616dca9_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She wanted churn dash blocks with a mix of bright colours and black and white. I haven't been a fan of the blocks prior, but I love how these look! I don't think I'd want to make a quilt with this pattern, but I would definitely be interested in using a colour scheme like this.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I joined the Schnitzel and Boo mini quilt swap this time around--here is my start.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15262153344" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0004 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0004" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7467/15262153344_1d9484530f_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made a little zippy top for Abby from a Nani Iro print I got. I had intended to make it for myself but I messed up on how much to order. It's pretty see through too, so I lined it with bathing suit lining (lol!). The zipper is a little crooked but I'm hoping it won't be so noticeable on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15696912338" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0006 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0006" height="400" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7525/15696912338_89b309a43d_b.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15882440941" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0007 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0007" height="400" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8608/15882440941_3b3949c9e0_b.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lastly, I recovered a chair for my sewing room. The fabric is a canvas, I think geo pop of some sort.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">After</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm so excited that it is getting close to Christmas!! After Remembrance Day I pulled out all my decorations and once Abby went to sleep I Christmas-ified my home. Now the key is tracking down the ornaments that get pulled of the tree by a certain little someone every day!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I'm submitting a quilt that I just finished last week. I wouldn't say it's my favourite I've ever made, but I didn't make it for me, and I'm still very pleased with it! To check out the blogger's quilt festival, <a href="http://amyscreativeside.com/2014/10/24/bloggers-quilt-festival-fall-2014-edition/" target="_blank">click here</a>!<br />
<br />
I was lucky enough to be a pattern tester for Diane from <a href="http://fromblankpages.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">fromblankpages</a>. She is the one who designed the <a href="http://asometimesquilter.blogspot.ca/2014/10/finished.html" target="_blank">celestial star quilt</a> that I recently finished. This <a href="http://fromblankpages.bigcartel.com/product/candy-wrappers-223-paper-piecing-pattern-pdf" target="_blank">pattern is called candy wrappers</a>, and it is a foundation paper piecing pattern.<br />
<br />
I am a registered nurse at a small hospital, and the way our schedule works for full timers, we are paired up with a full time LPN. My amazing partner, who has been nursing in some way or another for 40 years, is retiring this month. I wanted to make her a quilt that I could finish by the beginning of November, so I decided that this would be the perfect opportunity. She had seen the pattern (my printer is on the fritz so I had printed it off at work) and commented on how she liked that it looked like there was a cross in the pattern. <br />
<br />
She is a woman with a deep faith that has been apparent in every aspect of her life, and has such a servant's heart. So I decided that I would try to make this with attention to the cross in the middle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15031197574" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0036 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0036" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7521/15031197574_5a7c9178c4_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The fabrics are persimmon, modern neutrals, a bit of Lotta Jansdottir, and a few others including some 3 sisters stuff I had in stash.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15031198474" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0038 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0038" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7534/15031198474_d43e819067_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I did a FMQ design I've done before, maybe something like a peacock feather? I was thinking of quilting in a way to draw attention to the cross, but wasn't happy with any of my ideas so just did an all over design.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15652776252" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0039 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0039" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3944/15652776252_baae00b267_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I machine bound it following Red Pepper Quilts' tutorial again, definitely my go to now!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15031201214" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0041 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0041" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3952/15031201214_fe0a1afb83_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The backing is a 3 Sister's print I had from a sale at my LQS. I am still not sure if I like it but I felt it went well with the quilt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15649269221" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0042 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0042" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7462/15649269221_56b9f80553_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My only mistake was that I didn't put a sleeve on it to hang it as it is intended to be a wall hanging quilt (24" x 24"). I am thinking I'll just get some heavy duty velcro. And I guess I lied about that being my only mistake because I wanted to make a label for the back and didn't, but I think I could still fuse one on.<br />
<br />
That was a lot of writing, so here is Abby having a good time on the grossest chair ever. That quilt was a wedding gift from my talented Aunt!<br />

For all that I feel I have been busy, I don't have a lot to show.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I finished off the bee blocks for this month. We have two leaders this month, so I made four instead of two. The first were x & + blocks. I love how these two turned out, and kind of want to make a quilt of these blocks for myself. Maybe someday? Or perhaps I'll start cutting pieces from each fabric I cut for something else to make blocks gradually?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15244283517" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Bee Block by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Bee Block" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3933/15244283517_dbb4f8429b_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15244238778" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Bee block by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Bee block" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3931/15244238778_d029a36ebb_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I couldn't bring myself to toss the extra scraps from the above blocks so I made HSTs and put them together to make a mug rug. Not sure what to do with them. I used a new toy, my bloc-lox ruler, to trim them up. I highly recommend it as a ruler, it's great!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15244919878" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Mug rug by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Mug rug" height="266" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2942/15244919878_34033b295e_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The other bee blocks were Christmas themed, so I used my few Christmas fabrics paired with red and green fabrics.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15513162991" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="October Bee Blocks by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="October Bee Blocks" height="266" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2950/15513162991_e9a8fa36a5_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also made a new shirt for myself! This is a Neptune Tee from <a href="http://seekatesew.bigcartel.com/" target="_blank">See Kate Sew</a>. It's a basic tee that you can put those cute triangle cut-outs into. I love the sleeves, they're the perfect length!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15493153656" title="DSC_0027 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0027" height="1024" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3944/15493153656_22a75c871d_b.jpg" width="683" /></a><br />
<br />
The fabric is from <a href="http://www.girlcharlee.com/" target="_blank">Girl Charlee</a>, and I am super pumped at how I managed to match the stripes along the side. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15513167751" title="DSC_0028 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0028" height="1024" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5604/15513167751_05d2c0a5bd_b.jpg" width="683" /></a><br />
<br />
It can be left plain, without the triangles.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15329665258" title="DSC_0029 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0029" height="683" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3945/15329665258_e4019559b0_b.jpg" width="1024" /></a><br />
<br />
The cut-outs can also be inset with a contrasting fabric. I didn't really think that anything would match this fabric well so I left it empty.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15329668408" title="DSC_0031 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0031" height="683" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3955/15329668408_484dd2ea47_b.jpg" width="1024" /></a><br />
<br />
I love this shirt! It's so comfy and was pretty easy to make. And, if you ever wanted to see a lot of me, here you are!<br />

I have been waiting for sun in order to get some good picture--and there has been none. So, I just took them with my flash, and they're awful.<br />
<br />
Here's the whole thing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15229785820" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0018 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0018" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3927/15229785820_6f57d852fb_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is how I quilted the four setting squares. Anything white got a small scale stipple, and the grey is just loops back and forth.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15229874488" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0020 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0020" height="266" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2948/15229874488_2ba47f8422_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I did two of the corners with scallops around the star.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15413306441" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0021 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0021" height="266" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2946/15413306441_9df6d4b1e6_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And the other two with just echo lines.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15416136342" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0022 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0022" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3928/15416136342_3e0dd21a51_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The centre star has pebble fmq in the grey, and a spiral in the star itself.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15393432296" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0023 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0023" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3929/15393432296_280c15b4e0_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The backing is a print by Amy Butler, I don't remember the name and I sewed the selvage into it. It wasn't big enough so I used my leftover grey to finish it off.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15229934527" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0024 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0024" height="426" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3930/15229934527_0ed3fbcd68_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This picture shows how I quilted the stars in the four corners. I just did that up and down in each of the twelve segments.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15416139452" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0026 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0026" height="426" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3927/15416139452_e47eca220e_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The binding is one I got on sale, the selvage said 'Alhambra 2.' It was what I had originally wanted to back the quilt with but I didn't have nearly enough. Apparently I am completely delusional about the amount of fabric it takes to back a 72" square quilt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15229936767" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0028 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0028" height="426" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3927/15229936767_b8ccb0ca8c_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I tried a new method of binding, based on a couple different tutorials, but the main one by Red Pepper Quilts. It is the best job I have ever done machine quilting binding.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15393437336" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0031 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0031" height="426" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2946/15393437336_8a78d26ba5_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Despite the poor pictures, the quilt turned out great!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

I finished up the quilt top for the Celestial Star QAL. This is an...interesting top. I do love how it turned out but it's a little goofy. <br />
<br />
I ran out of the grey that I was using for the background from the first four, so I ordered more. Or so I thought. When it came, it was very much different colour. Well, not a problem there, I could just do five blocks with a dark grey I had on hand for a nice contrast. Well, I only had enough for three blocks. So, I did two setting blocks in the grey that I accidentally ordered. Oh well!<br />
<br />
I knew I wasn't going to get 9 star blocks done in time for the QAL, so I chose to do setting blocks--good thing too because I have used almost every scrap of the fabric I had for this. Although I kind of butchered them and I'm not joking when I say not a single point lines up. Distance (and hopefully quilting) is my friend!<br />
<br />
All in all, I do love it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15055744640" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Celestial Star QAL by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Celestial Star QAL" height="266" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5568/15055744640_5e43654f0f_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I also whipped up my bee blocks for September. We were to make whatever we wanted, so hopefully these will do! The scrappy one I just did, and the other block is a tea leaf block from the Vintage Quilt Revival book.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15134580188" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Canadian Bee blocks by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Canadian Bee blocks" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3877/15134580188_f6ae5896d6_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Below is the current state of the quilt for my month as bee leader. I made the one with the pearl bracelet print on the navy and it is driving me nuts. I'm going to use the star on the back and get rid of the irish chain block (I don't really thinks it's a stand alone block) and replace them with something different. I thought I would be ok with the contrast, but I'm just not. My plan is to have it finish at 5x4 blocks. I'm just waiting for one more pair to come in the mail, and then I will make the rest.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Meanwhile, someone is going through some raging teething--diaper rash, the runs, fever, and all! Poor little thing. Although this is the only time she will sit still and cuddle, so there is that.</div>

Between going back to working shift work, and being plain old lazy, I haven't been up on getting things blogged--but I think that you'll all be just fine with that.<br />
<br />
I did manage to get my pillow quilted with the Celestial Star pattern. I did spiral quilting to test it out, not sure if I want to do it on a quilt. It suits the block, but I'm not really sure it's for me. Maybe if I did it a bit more spaced out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14963618818" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0003 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0003" height="266" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5565/14963618818_b26ef96577_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I made another block for my Celestial Star QAL quilt. I am just about done the next one and then I just need to make setting blocks. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14840939820" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0002 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0002" height="266" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5555/14840939820_296e68a450_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I made two more blocks for my bee quilt that I am "hosting" as it is my month.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14722534738" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Bee Blocks by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Bee Blocks" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3850/14722534738_5d57e3e5f4_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I also received a few in the mail, This is a little sneak preview of the layout that it will be. I chose to go with navy stars and Irish chain blocks, and then have the ribbons around the stars be in the aqua/blue/teal family. So far I'm loving it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/15091669736" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Canadian bee blocks by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Canadian bee blocks" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3852/15091669736_bc08ee0915_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<br />
Here she is in her birthday dress that I made her. It's called the Lulu dress by craftiness is not optional, and I love it! I used a knit from Girl Charlee for the top, and the skirt is palos verde voile from fabricworm.<br />

I have recently started back to work so I do not have quite the free time that I did before. It's good to be working again, but it's sad that I don't get to hang out with my little buddy all the time anymore.<br />
<br />
I made my third Celestial Star Quilt block. This is the worst job I've done making one, so I'm hoping that once I get it attached and take the paper out that will help. I'm still very happy with it, it just turned out a bit lumpy and bubbles in a couple spots. I ran out of grey so I'll be going again once that arrives.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14908790232" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0017 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0017" height="266" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5592/14908790232_7f2f1d0a0a_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also made another ribbon star block and corresponding irish chain block. These are the blocks I picked for my month in my quilting bee. Although I love the pearl bracelets fabric line, I wish I had stuck with a navy that had less white in it. Oh well, still works, and I'm definitely not redoing/not using these!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This Sunday my little bean is 1!! Can't believe it. Well, I guess I can.</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14654495410" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Celestial Star QAL by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Celestial Star QAL" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3839/14654495410_52b103edf8_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm loving the many designs possible with this quilt block! However, I think that I prefer my block that I made last time. However, I'm still a big fan of this one. I am thinking of doing 5 star blocks and then 4 setting blocks to finish the quilt. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In other news, tomorrow is my first day back at work--not really too excited about the prospect. Deep breaths.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the first block for comparison. I think the second one reads a lot more yellow while this one reads more aqua. I will have to see if I can play with that a bit in future blocks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If there is a WIP Wednesday this week I will be linking up. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Hope everyone's summer is going great!</div>

<br />
First off I have been plugging away at the Celestial Star QAL. Even if you don't quilt along I definitely suggest the pattern--it's so versatile and beautiful. And I am a paper piecing fan so it's great.<br />
<br />
Below is the centre of my test block, waiting for the rest of it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14501385697" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Celestial Star QAL by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Celestial Star QAL" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3860/14501385697_88560ed785_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And here is the finished product! I didn't have enough of the ivory so I decided to use some neutral low volume prints for the backdrop. I'm happy with how it turned out! This baby is now basted (I'm testing out spray basting!) and ready to quilt. I am going to attempt a spiral quilting design, I figured small was the way to go. Also I think it would suit this block. This will eventually be a pillow for my couch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14760821241" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="18" celestial star block by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="18" celestial star block" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3882/14760821241_0bf97ea214_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And here's our little rider fan. Couldn't resist sharing this picture. She's so tough to photograph now, always on the move!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14763714956" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0029 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0029" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3859/14763714956_65894b88e2_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Now below is the "real deal" block. I'm planning on doing a whole quilt. Although with the deadline to be done in September and me going back to work next week (*sniff* so not ready), I'm going to have to really grind it out. Love it though!<br />
<br />
That sucka is 24" so at least it doesn't take many to make a quilt. I am thinking of doing a few of these and then finishing out with setting blocks so a)it's a little easier, b)the stars can really stand out and c)I can actually meet the deadline.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Lastly, it's my turn to be the queen bee, or whatever you wish to call it, of my online bee I'm part of. It's worth checking out the <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/48704476@N07/8412297560/" target="_blank">inspiration for my quilt here</a>!<br />
<br />
First is the modified irish chain. Check out the chubby little wrist that made a special appearance!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14806584953" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Single Irish Chain Block by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Single Irish Chain Block" height="426" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3896/14806584953_34428e1626_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Second is the ribbon star block based on a <a href="http://www.freshlypieced.com/2012/01/ribbon-star-block-tutorial.html" target="_blank">tutorial by Lee at Freshly Pieced</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
I'm excited to see what I get for this! I will be making some more as well so that I can have a bigger quilt as, including my blocks, there will be 12 from the bee itself. I'm thinking a total of 20 blocks for a 4x5 layout.<br />
<br />
Hope everyone is having a delightful summer, and happy long weekend to those that get it (is it just a Canada thing?)!!Kleephttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04953587180152234394noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8125566705362712945.post-86030749498139913152014-07-18T09:57:00.002-07:002014-07-18T09:59:07.016-07:00Celestial Star QALConsidering I didn't do a lot, I think I still have quite a few pictures to share.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First off I made my second bee block for this month. This block pattern really caused me trouble. Not sure what it was but I had a tough time with it. It should make a really neat looking quilt when it's all done though!<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14669446644" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="July Bee Block by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="July Bee Block" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3867/14669446644_f89588cb95_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As for a finish, I made a dress for my little lady. It used to be a skirt that I never wore so I cut it up to make a kind of pillowcase dress. I used leftover fabric from my staple dress for the straps. It fits fairly well but is shorter than I had anticipated. Still pretty cute though!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14671456422" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0026 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0026" height="266" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5559/14671456422_31da1f8086_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Those blocks are waiting to be the last row in a quilt top, I'm excited to be done that top considering it has taken me 2 years so far. Oops. I just need to figure out the directionality and put it together. Unfortunately in my zeal to finish this guy I got a bit laissez-faire with the piecing and now some of my hourglasses are facing the wrong way in the final product. It bothers me, but not enough to do all that stitch ripping. I'm hoping it'll be ok in the grand scheme, and the recipient will not mind.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14671778755" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0027 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0027" height="266" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2910/14671778755_3d26d7af29_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I joined the <a href="http://fromblankpages.blogspot.ca/2014/07/celestial-star-qal-color-design.html" target="_blank">Celestial Star QAL with from blank pages</a>. I have developed a great fondness for paper piecing, and I think that the block, along with its many possible looks is gorgeous.<br />
<br />
My plan is to do a pillow for my couch, and then if it's not insurmountable I will also do a quilt top. I did some colouring for the pillow (colours are way off but I only had highlighters at the time!). I am making the 18" block for the pillow.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14648771006" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0022 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0022" height="266" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5565/14648771006_cceb96c9a6_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As you may guess from my fabric pieces I cut below, I have already strayed from my plan. The centre star will all be one fabric instead of alternating.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14498092117" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0032 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0032" height="266" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2930/14498092117_5bf432081a_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This is the other fabric I have to go with the brown woodgrain. My pillows will all be with these two, plus another aviary print. But that's for another day.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14497889350" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0033 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0033" height="266" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5592/14497889350_ea62cc2600_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Below I did some colouring to get the general idea of the patterns, using different colours when the time comes. I used a permanent marker because it's all I had besides highlighters. Oops.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14671452442" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0023 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0023" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3852/14671452442_ee49985d19_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
below is my fabric pull for the quilt. It's from the collection called Penelope. I may pull a few other fabrics from my stash depending on how things go, but we'll see. I'm planning to do nine 24" blocks and I'll be picking out my favourite nine designs from above. We shall see how things go!<br />
<br />

<br />
This little peanut is 11 months. I'm a little heart broken about that. It's also almost impossible to get a good picture of her sitting still if she doesn't feel like it so the lighting is not so great in this shot.<br />
<br />

<br />
I have a bee block, pieces cut out, just waiting for me to pick it up again.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14427885370" title="DSC_0002 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0002" height="266" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5505/14427885370_0ba828751d_b.jpg" width="400" /></a>
<br />
<br />
These blocks only needed to be pieced together and then added to the over half done top.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14614007062" title="DSC_0003 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0003" height="266" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2929/14614007062_7c6c0f7190_b.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
Aforementioned top is being carefully stored.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14591519466" title="DSC_0005 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0005" height="266" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5585/14591519466_01313ec033_b.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
I decided to sort out my scraps, they were all mashed into one drawer. But I didn't get enough buckets so that bag is holding more. There is more than I thought!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14428145137" title="DSC_0004 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0004" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3887/14428145137_1456079eed_b.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
I make a tank top! It's from a pattern that came in the perfect pattern parcel 3. It's called the Jorna Tank. It's perfect because it's nice and long, loose, and swingy. Although I prefer a little closer on the rib cage so I will make it again, and I may try altering the fit a bit. Which is scary because I've just learned to follow a pattern, never mind change it.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Back shots are awkward.</td></tr>

My husband told me I could use his credit card to buy fabric on the condition I make him a Star Wars bag. Score! So I hit up Hawthorne Threads and got some awesome stuff. There's some Joel Dewberry, Up Parasol, Brambleberry Ridge (may have to get more, I love love love it!), Indelible, and a few more. Not pictured is the Star Wars fabric and some voile I got.<br />

<br />
So I took it into the base of our picture window and that's much nicer. So I guess my most productive WIP was stacking fabric. I actually did make a bathing suit (whoa there) which turned out awesome but it looks kinda silly if you take a picture without a person in it. So look out, but there will be--at some point--pictures of me in a [fairly modest] swimsuit. <br />

Things got a bit wet. But here's what I did do. <br />
<br />
I joined a quilt bee! It's called We Bee Canadian. I figured it'd be cheaper shipping if I found one that stuck in the country, no hard feelings to all the lovely quilters around the world. I need to do 2 blocks, and I did technically, but the first one finished up 1/2" too small both ways. Turns out my 1/4" piecing foot is off about a 1/16", which explains a lot!!<br />
<br />
The pattern for this block comes from the Moda Bake Shop, and it's called <a href="http://www.modabakeshop.com/2012/10/simply-woven-quilt.html" target="_blank">Simply Woven</a>.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14374024269" title="DSC_0016 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0016" height="265" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3885/14374024269_8379eb6d89_b.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
I've been hanging out with this little imp. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14559785342" title="DSC_0010 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0010" height="400" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2909/14559785342_98513e3b35_b.jpg" width="266" /></a><br />
<br />
And we got a bit of water. We're lucky our basement is unfinished so not really a big deal. But I really don't want a waterfall--soothing or no. However, a lot of other places in our province got it way worse. Roads have been washed out, homes destroyed, hospitals and towns evacuated. So I'm pretty glad that this is all we had to deal with. Here's some<a href="http://globalnews.ca/news/1427541/sask-flood-2014-in-photos/" target="_blank"> pictures to peek at</a>--something else!<br />

Maybe it doesn't even look like much though ;-)<br />
<br />
A long ways back I ordered a bundle of Birch fabric basics from Fabric worm and decided to give a plus sign layout quilt a try. I only had two grey fabrics so I ended up with similar prints together, but all in all I like it. It's going to be a baby quilt and I'll keep it on hand for friends who may have baby boys in the future. Just need to sew it together!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14504602354" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC_0002 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0002" height="266" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5595/14504602354_a438ec32ac_c.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I have it on a picnic table cloth, and just roll it up to keep it laid out and out of the way. Works great!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Below is my next Harry Potter block. It could be a little crazy.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14505958525" title="DSC_0038 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0038" height="266" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3855/14505958525_6aaab80e97_c.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
This mess is a *gasp, eek* bathing suit pattern and fabric. The suit is called<a href="http://www.store.closetcasefiles.com/patterns/bombshell-swimsuit" target="_blank"> the bombshell swimsuit</a> and came with the perfect pattern parcel # 3. I am scared, but excited as I never seem to fit 1-piece suits because they're too short. Hopefully I don't screw it up! The fabric is from <a href="http://www.girlcharlee.com/" target="_blank">Girl Charlee.</a><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14319354828" title="DSC_0039 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0039" height="266" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5579/14319354828_d55248b177_c.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
This bag is also from the pattern parcel. I bought some discount outdoor fabric from Fabricland to make it, intending to make two for wedding gifts (the other would be the same colours but reversed), and to be honest I probably won't make the second one. It was kind of a pain to make, I found the instructions confusing, and the fabric wasn't the easiest to work with. Also, I don't have enough interfacing left. Very colourful and fun though!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14504807642" title="DSC_0040 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0040" height="427" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3847/14504807642_31aa1da86b_c.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
It's meant to carry water bottles or the like. After I got going, I thought it would have been neat to do the outer pocket in the same fabric as the liner. Oh well.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14319510747" title="DSC_0041 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0041" height="427" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2936/14319510747_8bf5ccd56e_c.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
In exciting news, I won a mini pack of the Allison Glass aurifil essentials thread. So awesome!!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14319351948" title="DSC_0036 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0036" height="427" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5575/14319351948_98dc527a70_c.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
Look who is 10 months old!! Hard to get her to sit still for a picture these days since she's been walking for a few weeks already!!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14482852996" title="DSC_0011 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0011" height="800" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2895/14482852996_659b13afe3_c.jpg" width="534" /></a><br />
<br />
And lastly, I said in my last post that I would include a picture of myself wearing the Staple Dress that I made, so here is my lovely assistant helping me model it.<br />
<br />

Well, it's been a mildly productive week and some.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Jess came over and we continued our way through the Vintage Quilt Revival book. I really like this block, the Red Cross I think it's called. I used some softer colours. Jess switched up her layout a bit. I think they both turned out great!</div>
<div>
<br /><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14420370753" title="DSC_0072 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0072" height="267" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3861/14420370753_33ce262bcd_c.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14213558299" title="DSC_0079 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0079" height="267" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5485/14213558299_2e3f6a436e_c.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
I also continued working on my Harry Potter quilt. I messed up a bit with the potion bottle so had to add onto the piece after I had pieced the block (I will not unpick a block at a certain point). So...it's floating.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14213597538" title="DSC_0081 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0081" height="267" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2923/14213597538_50633e77da_c.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
Just a random picture, but I thought I would share the view from my sewing room--I don't know what the tree is but it has beautiful flowers, and then after they've gone the leaves turn a pinky colour for the remainder of summer.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14400211025" title="DSC_0070 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0070" height="400" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2922/14400211025_ef8d7b1197_c.jpg" width="267" /></a><br />
<br />
I continued on with my clothing sewing ways. I made another Nessie Top (<a href="http://www.craftinessisnotoptional.com/" target="_blank">Pattern by Craftiness is not Optional</a>)<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14396844611" title="DSC_0004 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0004" height="267" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3902/14396844611_9f7d01b883_c.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
Here are some action shots with the pants I had made a while back. They were really hard to match with anything, and I had enough left to make the colour block top, so now it's good to go!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14400205905" title="DSC_0007 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0007" height="400" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2915/14400205905_fffca7c78a_c.jpg" width="267" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14213549899" title="DSC_0009 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0009" height="400" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5543/14213549899_4ca25876d4_c.jpg" width="267" /></a><br />
<br />
A delightful low volume bundle of fabrics from Stash fabrics. I ordered the cat print and the diagonal stripe separately, but they go along quite nicely! Can't wait to do something with these!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14213562169" title="DSC_0096 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0096" height="427" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3878/14213562169_60524889fd_c.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
Last but not least, I am trying to make something for myself! I bought the Perfect Pattern Parcel #3 because there are a couple patterns I wanted to try and the proceeds go to a good cause, and this is my first make from it. It's The Staple Dress by April Rhodes. I got the fabric on sale at Fabricland to give it a go--I think it was some sort of cotton/poly blend for garments. I guess this is what you can call a 'wearable muslin'.<br />
<br />
All in all it went really well until it came to the shirring (done with elastic thread). Often the problem is that people can't get good shirring and it doesn't gather. Well, I didn't have that issue. At all! It was so tight I couldn't get it over my shoulders and ripped every row. So I tried a couple tricks and "fixed" it where it had ripped and added more. I can just get it over my shoulders and have to pull the ladies through one at a time (tmi, I know). Anyone know anything about shirring? What would you recommend? When it's not late and I'm not tired I'm going to try again with some test fabric to see what I can come up with.<br />
<br />
Otherwise, I really like the dress, the high low hem is great and it fits quite well! I'll definitely try this one again, if I can fix my shirring issues. Whenever I wear it I'll get a picture wearing it and post that.<br />

I didn't do a lot this past week, but did have a little fun.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First off, I used left over squares from Abby's baby quilt to make some HSTs and decided to go with the chevron layout to show them off. It's one of my favourite collections ever so I figured that I had better get it up on my wall in my little sewing room.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm sure sometime soon I will get it quilted and bound, the nice thing about minis is how quick they are!! That and table-top basting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14055684228" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0033 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0033" height="267" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5231/14055684228_ce399c560a_c.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Other than that I did some more clothing sewing. This little top was mostly done a while ago, but I couldn't figure out my button hole attachment so it languished almost complete for a bit. I used a tutorial from Pinterest. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's supposed to be 6-12 months but is massive so I think I must have had the scaling wrong and not realized it. It'll be cute whenever it fits though!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14055723050" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0028 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0028" height="267" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2913/14055723050_5142770c24_c.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The following two pics are of my little munchkin wearing some leggings that I made for her from pants of mine that I no longer wear. I just love sewing tiny clothes, and leggings are really easy!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I didn't do a whole heck of a lot in the last little bit. Below are the next two blocks in my Harry Potter bookshelf quilt. For those of you who know HP, that little bottle is Felix Felicis :-).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14165801996" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Harry Potter quilt by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Harry Potter quilt" height="300" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2909/14165801996_8c56ea96f3_c.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next block on my table is going to be a tough one as you can see--the classic glasses! Wish me luck.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14186379852" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Harry Potter quilt by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Harry Potter quilt" height="300" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5536/14186379852_e67fa2cdc6_c.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made some bunting to decorate the top of my peg board in my sewing room. I probably could have done a couple less pieces and spaced them out more. The fabric is Frog Prince by Tula Pink and I love it. Either way, it's a nice addition to my room.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13998768988" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Some bunting to brighten my sewing room. by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Some bunting to brighten my sewing room." height="640" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2905/13998768988_8acff2c5e2_c.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I took the plunge and purchased a Nessie top pattern from Craftiness is not optional. I did my first attempt with an old t-shirt of mine because I don't want to use my precious purchased knits until I know I can do a good job. I used the t-shirts' sleeves edge so that's why they look so good! The neck line is where I need the most work, but all in all it wasn't awful.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14174910894" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="First attempt at the Nessie top. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wanted to glam it up a bit so I used some bleach water and sprayed it over a stencil--I'll likely use that trick again! The bottom edge is just serged to give it a neat look--I didn't feel like hemming it!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

It's been for a little while, but I am really loving having my own space for quilting. What a difference it makes in productivity and cleanliness levels. We have a few things left to fix up in my sewing room, but I think that when it is done I will post up some pictures because I'm so proud how well it turned out!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyways, this week my friend Jess and I continued along our journey through the quilt blocks in Vintage Quilt Revival. If you look below you'll see our efforts, her's is on the left and mine is on the right. I'm so impressed with how much she has improved since we started. I am continuing to try and branch away from my usual fabric choices. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14134614364" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0044 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0044" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7422/14134614364_4b357647b7_c.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The lighting is not great because I took these late in the day without much natural light so you can't get the full effect, but this block has a nice "jewel tone" to it, which I really dig but never seem to do!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14131023481" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0040 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0040" height="265" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7373/14131023481_7c8c44fed6_c.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Here is the third little top that I've made in this pattern with a print from the Little Ones fabric line--I love it so much! It was a real lesson in patience because of how many times I messed up but in the end it's delightful (and I will never mark pattern pieces on the good side of my fabric ever again). I used double fold bias tape that I bought on the sleeves, and for this top I made the neck pieces bigger on my own--I much prefer that look!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13947729508" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC_0039 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0039" height="266" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5512/13947729508_d18fae4995_c.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This one is for my little one, so when she wears it I will take and post a picture :-)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Here is a cute little pair of leggings I made as a baby gift. But, once again, I messed up. I had the stretch going up and down, not side to side, by accident. So I cut off the top and replaced it with some fabric with the stretch going the right way. I hope these work!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was so excited to get this bundle in the mail. The top five fabrics are knits and one voile, and the rest is some Penelope by Camelot Cottons and yardage of a home decor Bungalow from Joel Dewberry (see usage below).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And here is my "custom" ironing board. I just stapled some batting, insul-brite, and the fabric onto a scrap piece of plywood I cut to size. I plan to attach it to my ironing board stand for stability, but I am pretty excited about this.</div>

So, I have to admit, I am never a person to do things halfway. And now that I have tried out sewing clothes, I find that I really like it. I am thinking that part of that is accounted for by the fact that you can finish what you start in one day. Sometimes. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14071205184" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Clothes in progress for Abby. by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="Clothes in progress for Abby." height="300" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7058/14071205184_e0985a1835_k.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The above soon to be outfit is based off of two separate tutorials from online, pants <a href="http://seekatesew.com/free-pattern-baby-bloomers/" target="_blank">here</a> and shirt <a href="http://smashedpeasandcarrots.com/little-girls-crossover-pinafore-pattern-and-tutorial/" target="_blank">here</a>. The giraffe fabric is from Fabricland, it's a stretchy fabric of some type, not the greatest quality I would guess (but $5/m was pretty awesome!), and the bloomers are a quilting cotton. The top is much bigger than I thought and will in no way fit Abby at this time, but I am concerned that the bloomers will just fit if at all--her legs are pretty chunky. So, I'm at a standstill. Also I need to learn how to do a buttonhole. Yikes!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This top comes from <a href="http://prudentbaby.com/2010/05/baby-kid/snappy-toddler-top-free-downloadable-pattern-2/" target="_blank">this tutorial</a>, and I love it! In fact I've already made another. This was a gift for a special birthday girl and I didn't have anything to give her so I thought I could make it. Love this fabric for baby clothes too!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In quilting news, I decided that I wanted to make a mini quilt to hang in my sewing room. I plan to have a few over time, so this is the first. Although Adam likes it so much it may end up in the house proper. Oh well, I can always make more!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I tried something new with the binding where you make a pocket and tuck the end in, as well as zig-zagging it. I'm not loving the pocket just because it makes it so bulky, but I love the zig-zag!! Also, this is the binding that I made for one of my first quilts ever, and way way way over guesstimated how much I needed, so it shows up on a lot of projects, luckily it's great.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/14010530144" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0136 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0136" height="427" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7410/14010530144_195e2a4229_c.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I used the walking foot to quilt straight lines one inch apart. I thought that it would be better to keep the quilting simple and I really failed hard the last time I tried to straight line quilt so I thought wider spaces might help.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Last but not least, I have started a big project as a gift for my sister. It is aptly titled the <a href="http://www.fandominstitches.com/2011/05/harry-potter.html#POD" target="_blank">Project of Doom</a>, and is a paper-pieced Harry Potter bookshelf quilt. My sister and I are both big into HP so I'm pretty pumped. And so is she!!<br />

And it languished for a long time, just needing me to finish squaring it up and put on binding. Nothing complicated or long term! But, I wasn't ready to finish it? However, it is finally complete!!<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used leftovers from the piecing to make the binding, I had it going so that the colours graduated all the way around but I made way too much so had to cut it short so it doesn't quite work out.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I still like this quilt, but I know my tastes have changed since I put this together--it's not my favourite, but my hubby likes it so that's a win. Not that I don't like it.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Jess and I put together our next blocks for our quilt, her's on the left and mine on the right. I'm doing the layout from the book that has borders around all of the blocks so I chose to do it all with that herringbone print.</div>

<br />
<br />
<br />
This was pretty scary to make. My niece turns 2 years old today, and I didn't get a chance to go to the city and buy something so I decided to make something. The pattern and tutorial for this top can be found <a href="http://birchfabrics.blogspot.ca/2013/08/free-pattern-tutorial-featuring-eiko-by.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It is reversible, and I made quite a few mistakes, but they were all salvageable, although the ties are clearly noticeable (I didn't realize I needed 4 ties and didn't have enough turquoise) I figured that wasn't the worst thing that could happen. It took me quite a long time to make this, but I do feel a little braver about sewing clothing and perhaps I will try again in the future. I do hope that it fits though!!</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13565679283" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0046 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0046" height="333" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2834/13565679283_3f6f0ded59.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13565977504" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0048 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0048" height="500" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2866/13565977504_c6725de1d6.jpg" width="333" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The fabric is Heirloom by Joel Dewberry in Citrine.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13565975664" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0047 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0047" height="333" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7130/13565975664_25f2c6dfa1.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I used mostly the one orange fabric for the binding but stuck a few random pieces of other patterns in to mix it up.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13565634335" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0059 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0059" height="333" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7436/13565634335_02ab70e22d.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13565698663" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0058 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0058" height="333" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3792/13565698663_0f701999fd.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I quilted it in an all over stipple, not too small scale, with some 'hidden' gems. There's some hearts, flowers, and her initials.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13565685363" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC_0049 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0049" height="333" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3807/13565685363_8dbe465f53.jpg" width="500" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">There actually is a heart there.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13565982134" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC_0050 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0050" height="333" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7192/13565982134_b883a63a3c.jpg" width="500" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">That's one of the (kinda) flowers.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
The backing is my favourite pattern from the line, and I bought that little stat square from a local lady who does that sort of thing with her embroidery machine. I knew as soon as I saw the idea that I wanted to sew it into the quilt, and it worked out smashingly. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13565690243" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0051 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0051" height="333" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7014/13565690243_f8caffa60e.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I was going to put it in the centre of the quilt with the floral pattern all around--I have lots more--but I decided that this way I a) didn't have to cut any of the patterned fabric, I just used the length I'd trimmed a while ago, and b) I could save my yardage for something else, like a bed skirt or curtains or something!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
I think she likes it!<br />

It was a doozy! But awesome. I didn't realize when I bought the book how many blocks were foundation pieced, but it will certainly be good practice.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13413698435" title="DSC_0069 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0069" height="333" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3833/13413698435_cebf8ed97a.jpg" width="500" /></a>
<br />
<br />
This is my block! I went a bit of a different direction with colours, and so I'm hoping that when the whole thing is together I'll have some good flow. Good thing is, with this kind of quilt, I'm hoping that the variety adds to it! This may be one of the 'neatest' quilt blocks I've ever made. Good old paper piecing.<br />
<br />
Here is Jess's block:<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13414061694" title="DSC_0072 by Kate, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0072" height="333" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2805/13414061694_04c3e0b77a.jpg" width="500" /></a>
<br />
<br />
That herringbone is one of my favourite fabrics!! It is pretty tough to ask someone new to quilting to dive into a block like this, and she did great.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Our little helper was loving those high contrast chevrons!!<br />

A friend of mine and I are going to work our way through the book <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1620330547/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1620330547&linkCode=as2&tag=frespiec-20" target="_blank">Vintage Quilt Revival</a> one block at a time to make a sampler quilt. She is just learning how to quilt so it's a great way to practice for her, and it's really nice for me to have someone to do it with!<br />
<br />
Also, with my little imp, it is nice to have something that is just little, manageable bits at a time...and we can take turns keeping baby happy!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13118513624/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0035 by asometimesquilter, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0035" height="333" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3712/13118513624_91428b8b69.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
We are just using fabrics from my stash, so we'll see how it all turns out in the end! Also, it's a good way to get myself to use those *favourite* fabrics that I keep saving for "something special."<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13118518184/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0051 by asometimesquilter, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0051" height="333" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3669/13118518184_a103395f65.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
My colours are a little more muted and soft:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13118528464/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSC_0053 by asometimesquilter, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0053" height="500" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3799/13118528464_25ec330497.jpg" width="333" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I know you can't really see it, but I love the grey and white tree print!!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
While hers a bit brighter and more vibrant--and I'm a huge fan of how hers turned out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/asometimesquilter/13118356013/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0052 by asometimesquilter, on Flickr"><img alt="DSC_0052" height="333" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2738/13118356013_163aa38878.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'll have to try to avoid too much pink I think so that this one isn't too girly. But I guess with every new block we will see how these unfold!</div>
