WIP Wednesday

Well, I did make some progress today.  Doesn't look like much on the grand scale of things, but I sure feel like I've done a lot.

First off, I finished quilting the table topper that I've been working on.  All thats left to do is the binding--I'll be making bias tape to do that seeing as the last time I tried to bind non-ninety degree angles the regular way it was an absolute, utter disaster.

Table Topper-Quilted

The quilting is based off of a pattern from The Free Motion Quilting Project that has something to do with mussels, I just spaced it out.

Here is the back:

Back of Table Topper

It's a French General fabric, rouenneries or something like that.  I got it at a LQS and thought that it would be a good alternative so that if she wants to have something more neutral that the green and brown that will be possible.

Also, today, I did the tenth block for the Sew. Happy. Quilt. QAL.  I am loving every bit of this.  I'm so glad that I joined and now I want to do QALs galore!

And here's the crew so far, only two more blocks to go!

Take care all, I'll be linking up to WIP Wednesday with Lee at Freshly Pieced.

Getting going

I feel like I've been a little bit unproductive these last couple weeks.  So, I'm trying to change that.  Today, I did manage to get a few things done.  First off, I finished the quilt top for my sister's quilt.  This is the one made from the fabric (blue) from her trip to Africa.  Also, the grey is from a flannel duvet cover that she bought for me to use for the backing.  Also, I have incorporated it into the front to give this thing some size.  I think this will be the biggest quilt I've made to date.  I hope I can do it when it comes to the quilting!!!

Emma's Quilt Top

I probably should have turned off the light in the background.  Oh well, Mr's arms were getting sore anyways.  I think I'll need to find a way to hang quilts from the this area.  It's hard to tell, but the corners consist of four coloured blocks--no grey.

After I finished this top, I basted and started quilting something I'd made a few months ago.  I will need to take the above quilt somewhere else to baste it as it does not fit anywhere in my house without intense furniture relocation.

In the works

I didn't realize until after that I was highlighting a mistake here...oh well, nothing is perfect!!

FMQ

I didn't have it in me to finish, so hopefully tomorrow I'll have it all done up! Cheers.

WIP Wednesday

Since I haven't actually done anything since last wednesday, unfortunately I don't have much to show!

I did today's Sew. Happy. Quilt. QAL block, the churn dash redux as she calls it:

Sew. Happy. Quilt. QAL

This is the most 'yellow' block I have made thus far. Here's the round-up:

I also finished my Sparkle QAL quilt top.  I am just doing a mini.

And then, this came in the mail

Go! Baby

Honestly, I bought it by accident.  I bid the lowest bid, thinking I would for sure be outbid (on eBay).  And, I wasn't.  Oops!  Oh well, now I guess I'll need some die for it.  Any suggestions??

WIP Wednesday

Today, in order to keep things 'fresh,' I worked on three things and just rotated them around.  I just finished four 12 hour shifts so I really didn't do much during the last week.  The first one I'll share is a quilt I am making for my sister.  She came back from a trip to Africa with some gifted fabric and asked me to make it into a quilt.  So, here is what I have so far.

Sister's quilt

The grey fabric is flannel from a duvet cover.  I asked her to provide the backing and I'd do the rest, and she wanted flannel, so she got me the duvet cover.  Since I have way more than I need I thought I could use it on the front and the back.  I first put this solid border around.

Border 2

Then I did a lot of chain piecing.

Border 1 & 2

And then I've begun attaching the next border.  I'll reserve judgment, but I'm hoping that this works out well.  I'm worried maybe I should have reversed the order of the borders.

Anyways, whilst I was doing this, I was also working on my two QALs.  I got this week's block finished for the Sew. Happy. Quilt. QAL.

Block #8

So far that makes eight blocks.

Sew. Happy. Quilt. QAL.

I also started putting together my Sparkles for the Sparkle QAL.

WIP Wednesday

Well, since I just got back from Punta Cana on Sunday night, I haven't completed too much since then. My trip was lovely and warm and fairly relaxing, did some snorkeling and zip-lining as well as hanging around, but I was definitely glad to be back home.

I made two blocks for my Sew. Happy. Quilt. QAL:

Top right and bottom block are the newbies.
I also did the cutting for my Sparkle QAL with Jeni and Megan.  Not worth showing though.

Go on over to Lee's WIP Wednesday to see who was more productive than me!

Also, I was honoured to be featured on Jen's Follower Friday, so go check it out (if you want!)!
